Abstract

This article explores the historical and doctrinal claim of perpetual divine forgiveness for the people of Badr. It critically examines the authenticity of this attribution and the arguments of scholars who support it. Using a scientific and evidence-based approach, the study traces the origins of relevant historical accounts and hadiths, analyzing them in depth. It aims to highlight the exaggerations found in historical narratives and to present an objective discussion on their validity.
The research reviews these narrations as they appear in historical sources, scrutinizing their credibility and implications. It concludes that the claim of permanent divine forgiveness for the people of Badr is unproven, conflicts with the principles of faith and divine justice, and contradicts the objectives of Sharia and the foundational Islamic belief that every deed, good or bad, is accounted for—as stated in the Quran: “And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it” (Al-Zalzalah 99:8).
This hadith has raised numerous objections and scholarly reservations due to its contradiction with authentic narrations and the actions of the Companions and Followers. The underlying motive appears to be the conferral of an exceptional status on the people of Badr, exempting them from general divine justice. However, the conclusion reached is that they should be subject to divine rulings like all others. Therefore, this hadith should not be accepted as absolute, nor acted upon, as it stands in opposition to established principles.
