Various comments have been put forward concerning Hakim Nishapuri’s book Al-Mustadrak ala al-Sahihayn [Supplement for What is Missing From al-Bukhârî and Muslim]. By examining the hadiths, it can be seen that the best opinion is that there are correct, good [hassan] and weak hadiths in it, and irrational comments about the book are not acceptable; Because some of the hadiths of this book are equivocal and univocal with the hadiths in Bukhari and Muslim books, and there are only slight differences. In this article, with a descriptive-analytical method, the method of Hakim Nishapuri in selecting narrations and evaluating them is extracted. The study of the narrations of the book indicates that he has paid attention to their various aspects in selecting the narrations and his method is the thematic classification of the narrations; paying attention to the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim in selecting narrations; providing evidence to prove the authenticity of the narrations; paying attention to listening [sima’] the hadith; paying attention to various ways of narrations; attention to quoting only the meaning of narrations; attention to fragmentation in narrations; mentioning hadiths as evidence; explanation of the documentation and chains and text of narration, attention to trusted narrators; explanation of the rijals [bibliographical points] of some hadiths; mentioning the sources of narrations; ijtihad in regarding some narrations to be correct. Although Hakim has used a very good and accurate method in mentioning the authentic narrations in this book, his commitment to this method has not been the same everywhere, and in some cases, the narrations have been carried without any explanation or with insufficient explanation, which is why the audience/reader has encountered problems in dealing with some hadiths of the book.
