Unity and camaraderie of the populace with the government is one of the most important factors for successful societies. The ways of creating empathy and cooperation in the two areas of goodwill of the populace with the government and [of the] government with the populace can be investigated and examined. Nahj al-Balāgha has a special status in this field as a Shīʿī political charter. Amīr al-Muʾminīn (a) has expressed a number of ways by which empathy and cooperation between the government and the populace may be created. It is very important to analyze and compare these methods with the views of psychologists. On the one hand, the present research examines the most important principles and methods employed by rulers to create cohesion and harmony between the people and the state from the perspectives of Nahj al-Balāgha and psychology. On the other hand, it shows the congruence and coherence of these principles [from Nahj al-Balāgha] with the views of psychologists. The goal of this research is to discover the views of Amīr Muʾminīn (a) regarding the duties of rulers towards the people as the best [and most authoritative] model in this regard. The application of the criteria provided by the [model] Islamic State in this study, which brings about greater rapport between the populace and the government, is one of the benefits of this study. This study is presented in two parts namely: the principles and the methods of creating empathy.
