A portion of the teachings found in the narrations are dedicated to traditions on medical matters. The peculiarity of such traditions is that at first glance, they seem to be dedicated to a specific audience and a particular patient, which, according to the terminology used in the field of ḥadīth interpretation, is referred to as a [limited] practical injunction. In contrast, many of these teachings can be interpreted, on the basis of certain criteria, as actual [general] injunctions, which are authoritative and applicable in all similar circumstances. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of the context on the formulation of traditions related to medical issues in the form of the actual and practical injunctions, and consequently, to identify the ways by which these forms of injunctions in the traditions can be differentiated and distinguished. Additionally, by examining the evidence, an underlying original principle can be derived in this regard. Based on this research, in which narrations on medical issues are studied by looking at examples, by identifying the audience, the context and other circumstantial evidence, we can derive the actual injunction from the medical teachings in these traditions. Moreover, even though traditions on medical issues are different from other types of narrations, the primary principle in these narrations is, like in other types of narrations, that the injunctions contained therein are actual [general] injunctions.
